Kuwaiti Cultural Week in Rome kicks-off with arts expo

ROME, Nov 24, (KUNA): An exhibition, featuring pieces created by female artists, kicked started Saturday the Kuwaiti Cultural Week in Rome. Ambassador to Rome Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled Al-Sabah inaugurated the event. The exhibition was attended by head of International Relations at the Italian Minister of Culture Rosanna Binacchi, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul-Gheit, GCC and Arab diplomats in Rome, and scores of other officials.

The event featured works by Kuwaiti artists Shaima Ashkanani, Futouh Shamouh, Reham Al-Rughaib and Manal Al-Shurai’an. Speaking to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Khaled commended the exhibition for bolstering cultural relations with Italy. He thanked the Egyptian arts academy and Egypt’s embassy in Rome for the efforts to help in co-organizing the exhibition.

Meanwhile, the Italian Cultural Ministry official Binacchi affirmed that the exhibition added to the strength of ties between Kuwait and her country. She commended the pieces created by the Kuwaiti female artists, affirming that their work contribute to the further development of the artistic scene in their country. On his part, Arab League Secretary General Aboul-Gheit lauded the Kuwaiti efforts to reinforce the cultural bridges between Italy and the Arab World, affirming that State of Kuwait was always on the forefront of promoting ties between the Arab League and the rest of the world. The art exhibition was attended by figures such as the Egyptian Ambassador to Italy Hisham Bader and head of the Egyptian arts academy Dr Gehan Zaki who provided statements commended the event and the Kuwaiti female artists for their input.
