Kuwait women’s basketball team wins silver in the Arab Championship, Qatar

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Kuwait’s women’s basketball team won a silver medal in the Arab Championship, which concluded today evening in the Qatari capital, Doha. Kuwait lost to the Jordanian national team in the final match of the tournament.

The Jordanian team was able to win the title after finishing the final match with a score (21-12), while the Saudi team came third to win the bronze medal.

The head of the Kuwaiti delegation, member of the board of directors, Waleed Al-Shammari, praised the achievement of the Kuwaiti players in the championship, previously they won second place in the Gulf Games held in Kuwait last May.

Al-Shammari, who heads the Women’s Sports Committee, said that the current edition of the Arab Championship is of great importance as it is accredited by the International Basketball Association (FIBA), which grants the Kuwaiti Federation and its participating players important points in the international classification.

The Kuwait Football Association headed by Rashid Al-Enezi is keen to support all national teams in various categories to achieve more victories in foreign competitions, Al Enezi congratulated Kuwait’s basketball players on this remarkable achievement.
