Kuwait win 2nd place in Junior tennis championship in Turkey

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: Two stars of Kuwait National Junior Tennis Team Essa Qabazard and Bader Antar accomplished an outstanding achievement by taking second place in the international Under-18 junior competition held on July 19-27 in the Turkish city of Izmir.

 Teams from a number of countries participated in the competition including Qatar, Britain, Poland, Germany and Belgium in addition to the hosting country Turkey. In the semifinals, the Kuwaiti duo had defeated the opponent team composed of Turkish player Omet Eji Kankus and his German partner Alexander Jones by 2-1 sets.

 Kuwait had previously defeated the Turkish pair Muhammad Kan Edil and Burak Kan Ervaz by 2 sets to 1 in the match of the first round. Kuwait then managed to defeat the Turkish pair Atela Kaftar and Meret Arabasi by 2 sets to nil in the eighth round of the competition.

 However, Kuwait was defeated in the final match by the German pair consisting of Peter Alam and Mateo Potter by 1-2 sets.

 Meanwhile, Chairman of Kuwait Tennis Federation Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called the head of Kuwaiti delegation to the competition Abdulsamad Al-Eryan and congratulated him for the important achievement that will be added to the list of achievements of Kuwaiti tennis.

 Sheikh Ahmed thanked the Public Authority for Sport for the long-lasting support towards Kuwait Tennis Federation, as well as Olympic Committee of Kuwait and all Kuwaiti sports teams.

 It is worth mentioning that the Kuwaiti delegation included Head of the delegation Abdulsamad Al-Eryan, coach Muhammad Khaliq Seddiq, and players Essa Salman Qabazard, Bader Abdulaziz Antar, Ali Abdulredha Al-Shatti, Talal Abdulaziz Antar, Fahd Muhammad Al-Dousari, Muhammad Zaki Al-Qattan, Yusuf Kamal Al-Majdali and Muhammad Adel Al-Shatti.
