Al-Saadoun told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the penumbral Eclipse will begin at 8:45 p.m. Kuwait time on Friday, June 5, and will last for four hours and will end after several minutes from midnight on the morning of Saturday, June 6.

He mentioned that the moon’s monthly period around the earth takes an average of 29 and a half days today and it is at the beginning of the lunar month between the earth and the sun and after 14 days it is in the other direction behind the earth and here it enters the cone region of the earth’s shadow.

He stated that the moon is not every month that an eclipse occurs, as its orbit around the Earth is tilted 6 degrees with the level of the Earth with the sun, and this is why no solar eclipse occurred and a solar eclipse occurs every month.

He pointed out that the cone of the earth’s shadow, which extends from the earth at a distance of 1.5 million kilometers, consists of two regions, one of which is a complete shade, and the other region is the area of shade or semi-shade where the sunlight mixes with the shadow of the earth and produces a gray area if it crosses the moon, no eclipse of it is observed
