Kuwait team win HH Crown Prince Cup – Bahrain take 14 medals to finish second, Saudi take 3rd place

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: The Kuwait shooting national team won the champions of HH the Crown Prince Cup and the 13th GCC Shooting Championship last Saturday night at the Shooting Range of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Complex with a total tally of 26 medals — 10 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

A press statement issued on behalf of HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, the Governor of Hawally Sheikh Ahmad Al-Anwar praised the high level of performance demonstrated by the shooters throughout the tournament.

The governor also praised organizers of the tournament and congratulated the winners of the events together with other participants who, according to the governor, were honored to participate in this year’s event.

The Bahrain shooting team came in second place with a tally of 14 medals — 5 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze, followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a total of 11 medals – 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze), and in fourth place came Qatar with a total of 15 medals (4 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze).

The Sultanate of Oman and United Arab Emirates shared the fifth place with each winning one gold, one silver and 4 bronze.

On the final day, the Kuwait shooting team dominated the scene by winning 11 medals — 5 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

In singles trap, Kuwaiti shooter Fuhaid Al-Daihani won the gold, silver went to UAE Dhaher Al-Eryan, and the bronze to the Kuwaiti shooter Talal Al-Rashidi.

In the teams’ trap event, Kuwaiti team of Fuhaid Al-Daihani, Talal Al-Rashidi and Khaled Al-Mudhif secured the gold medal, the Qatari team of Muhammad Al-Rumaihi, Muhammad Khajeem and Rashid Al-Odhba won silver, and the bronze went to the UAE team of Dhaher Al-Eryan, Abdallah Al-Kindi and Abdallah Bohuleiba.

Veteran shooter Abdallah Tarki Al-Rashidi won gold medal for Kuwait in singles skeet, and promising Kuwaiti shooter AbdulAziz Al-Saad took the silver, and the bronze went to Qatar’s Khaled Al-Muhandi.

Kuwaiti shooters secured gold medal in the teams’ skeet event, through Abdallah Al-Rashidi, Nasser Al-Daihan and Mansour Al-Rashidi, whereas the silver went to Qatar through Rashid Hamad, Mas’oud Hamad and Abdallah Al-Attiya, and Bahrain settled for the bronze through Tamar Ali, Nasser Al-Khalaf and Hassan Muhammad.

In the teams’ Olympic archery event, Kuwait bagged the gold medal through Abdallah Taha, Abdallah Al-Harbi and Badar Al-Mutairi, whereas the silver went to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through Abduilahi Ali, Fares Al-Otaibi and AbdulAziz Al-Karbi, and the bronze to UAE through Obaid Al-Hamadi, Muhammad Rashid and Humaid Al-Mishrakh.

In the singles archery, the Saudi Abduilahi Ali and Aubi Arafat took the gold and silver respectively, while the bronze went to Kuwait’s Abdallah Taha.

Kuwaiti Ahmad Al-Shatti won a bronze medal in the double bow and arrow event, while AbdulAziz Al-Rodhan of Saudi Arabia and Qatar’s Ahmad Al-Yanae took the gold and silver respectively.

In the same event for teams, Kuwaiti team of Ahmad Al-Shatti, Salem Al-Saeed and Musallam Ibrahim won the gold, whereas the silver and bronze went to Qatar and Saudi Arabia respectively.

In singles 50 meters pistol, Kuwaiti Hamad Al-Namshan won the silver, whereas the gold and the bronze went to Saudi’s AtaAllah Al-Enezi and his compatriot Aqeel Al-Badrani respectively.
