Kuwait suspends security chief, officers over “leaked recordings”

KUWAIT, Aug 20: Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh has decided to suspend the director-general of the State Security Agency and seven officers over leaked recordings that date back to 2018.
The decision came following investigations carried out by a probe committee, the Interior Ministry’s public relations and security media department said in a statement on Thursday evening.

It was reported that the Minister of Interior referred a record dating back to 2018 related to the issue of the Malaysian Fund, which was handed over to him at the end of February 2020 by independent investigation bodies, whose facts were referred by the Council of Ministers to the Audit Bureau, the Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) and the Financial Investigation Unit, and a report was submitted to the prosecution about the facts mentioned in the recording.
