Kuwait sports authority proud of shooter Al-Deihani for Rio gold – Speedy solution to sports crisis sought

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12, (Agencies): The head of the Kuwaiti mission taking part in Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic games, Husam Al-Roumi, has expressed pride for the unprecedented victory scored by the Kuwaiti shooter Feheid Al-Deihani in the doubletrap competition. Al-Roumi, in a statement released by Kuwait Shooting Club on Friday, said he was granting the record win to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, noting the top leaders’ continuing support for the national sports and champions.

This achievement came due to the material and moralistic support by the State, namely the Public Authority for Sports, Al-Roumi said, indicating that Al-Deihani, along with the other champions taking part in the Olympic competitions, had undergone rigorous and effective training in Italy, ahead of the games.

He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the sports authority officials and managers of the shooting club. He expressed hope to see a speedy solution to the Kuwaiti sports crisis to enable the Kuwaiti athletes take part in international and external tournaments.

Al-Deihani won the gold medal in the double trap competition of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, a victory that earned him a personal praise by His Highness the Amir and the Gulf State top leaders.

It is the third Olympic medal for the veteran Kuwaiti shooter, who has won bronze in the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia, and another bronze in the 2012 Games in London, England
