Kuwait shooting team clinch 2 gold medals – Asian champ’ship

ABU DHABI, Nov 6, (KUNA): Kuwait’s shooting team won two gold medals Sunday in the men’s double trap and flying targets competitions as part of the ongoing 6th Asian Shotgun Championship, currently held in the Emirati capital.

Shooter Ahmad Al-Afasi won the first gold medal for Kuwait and first place in the men’s double trap after beating his Emirati adversary Seif Al-Shamsi, who placed second with a silver medal, while India’s Ankur Mittal grabbed the bronze medal and third place.

The second gold medal for Kuwait was won by the trio; Al-Afasi, Saad Al-Mutairi, and Hamad Al-Afasi in the flying targets competitions for teams by scoring a total of 407 targets, while India was placed second by scoring 403 targets, and UAE as third by scoring 402 targets.

Meanwhile, Dr Nedhal Al-Sayed Omar, member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Shooting Sport Federation (KSSF), praised to KUNA the Kuwaiti shooters’ achievements in Abu Dhabi and expressed his pride in the results they attained so far, pointing out their superiority and high-class level on the Asian arena.

Omar also dedicated the shooters’ achievements to the Kuwaiti leadership, government, people, as well as all shooting activists in Kuwait, including administrators, practitioners, and trainers.

This takes the number of Kuwaiti medals in the Asian tournament up to eight, including five gold, two silver, and one bronze.

KUWAIT CITY: The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Motor Cycle Race concluded Saturday. Organized by Kuwait Motor Sports Club at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad racing track, the race consisted of these categories — MX1, MX2, Club Man and ATV.

Abdullah Al-Shatti was declared the winner in the MX1 category while Meshari Abu Shaiba won in MX2 category, Muhammad Ismael in Club Man category and Fahd Al-Musalam in ATV category.

In a press statement, President of Kuwait Motor Sports Club Sheikh Ahmad Al-Daoud Al-Sabah disclosed many racing champions in Kuwait and other Gulf countries participated in the competition. He hopes the number of participants will increase in the upcoming seasons, especially the young racers who represent the future of the sports.  He also praised the media for covering various sports activities in Kuwait particularly motor sports.
