Kuwait is set to host Arab police practical shooting championship

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: Kuwait Police Sport Federation is set to host Arab police practical shooting championship Sunday with unprecedented participation of 17 Arab countries. Federation Chief, Major General Waleed Al-Shahab, in a press conference Thursday stated that the championship includes individual as well as team oriented competitions. The competitions aim to sharpen police officers field shooting skills, as well as boost the physical stamina needed to perform as well as possible, as the contest relies on placing police officers in real-life scenarios.

Al-Shahab, as head of the championship’s organizing committee, mentioned that this is the first time in years that a championship of this caliber is hosted in the country. He further affirmed that all organizational and technical measures have been taken and the shooting ranges in Sabahan area are ready to host these competitions, adding that Friday and Saturday have been designated practice days for participating teams. The championship, extending over two days, will be overseen by around 15 accredited referees from Kuwait and other Arab nations.

Major General Al-Shahab praised His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for his support, and extended deep gratitude for First Deputy PM, Interior Minister and Acting Defense Minister Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and Minister Undersecretary Anwar Al- Barjes for their guidance. He also wished participating Kuwaiti shooters success in their endeavors. Championship is in coordination with Arab Police sports federation, led by Qatari Brigadier Khaled Al-Attiyeh, and with participation of 17 out of 18 members (KUNA)
