Kuwait International Rally 2016 on course, Sheikh Al-Naif confirms- Rally scheduled to kick off March 24-26

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: The president of the higher organizing committee of Kuwait International Rally 2016 Sheikh Athbi Al Naif Al-Sabah has stressed that the Kuwait International Rally is coming on as scheduled.
Speaking to Arab Times, Sheikh Athbi said the Kuwait International Rally scheduled for March 24-26, 2016 is on course and nothing can change that. This he said debunking some news being circulated in a number of media channels about discarding the idea of organizing the international rally of Kuwait this year.
He emphasized that this news is false and has nothing to do with the reality, “it was disseminated only to disorganize and put the good reputation of Kuwait motor sport among the concerned Arab and international countries in bad light. We will not allow for the circulation of this news anymore, we realize well who is standing behind these actions and know well his targets.”
“I confirm once again that the rally is listed into the FIA agenda -Middle East championship for rallies and will be on scheduled time, we will do our best to highlight the name of Kuwait, as this is our ultimate target, meanwhile we welcome all the participants wishing them all the best residency in Kuwait.”
About the role of Kuwait in supporting the sporting events, Al Naif stated that the role of public authority for sport is leading in all different areas including Motorsport, he also evaluated the role of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour General Manager, Public Authority for Sport in solving all the problems that may arise with respect to the Motorsport. He confirmed meanwhile that board members of the Basel Salem Sabah Motor Racing Club always seek the improvement of the sport throughout, organizing many concerned sporting events.

The Kuwait International Rally known originally as the Kuwait Rally, is an international rally racing event held on the coastline of Kuwait between the capital Kuwait City and the border with Saudi Arabia. It is the largest motor sport event held in Kuwait annually.
The rally held on gravel roads and sand for the most part, has consistently been part of the Middle East Rally Championship but its history has been intermittent as Kuwait has been embroiled in armed conflict, first with the 1990 Iraqi invasion and the Gulf War and Iraq War which followed.
Emirati driver Mohammed bin Sulayem and Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah are the most successful drivers in the events history, each taking four wins.
