Kuwait condoles losses in Japan, Philippine storms

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of condolences to Emperor of Japan Naruhito on Monday, over the victims of the blizzard that hit several areas across the country, killing and injuring many people, while destroying different buildings and properties. His Highness the Amir wished the injured a speedy recovery and hoped Japan would soon overcome the aftermath of the natural disaster. His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a similar cable of condolences to Emperor of Japan Naruhito over the victims of the blizzard.

His Highness wished the injured a speedy recovery and hoped Japan would soon overcome the aftermath of the natural disaster. His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also sent a cable of condolences to Emperor of Japan Naruhito over the victims of the blizzard that hit several areas across the country. Heavy snow in large swaths of Japan has killed 17 and injured more than 90 people and left hundreds of homes without power, disaster management officials said Monday. Powerful winter fronts have dumped heavy snow in northern regions since last week, stranding hundreds of vehicles on highways, delaying delivery services and causing 11 deaths by Saturday.

More snowfall over the Christmas weekend brought the number of dead to 17 and injured to 93 by Monday morning, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. Many of them had fallen while removing snow from the roofs or were buried underneath thick piles of snow sliding off rooftops. Municipal offices in the snowhit regions urged residents to use caution during snow removal activity and not to work alone.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah sent on Monday a cable of condolences to the President of the Philippines Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., expressing sorrow over recent floods that caused casualties and property damages. In the cable, His Highness the Amir wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the floods and hoped for the safety and welfare of the leadership and people of the Philippines.

His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah sent a similar cable on Monday to Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., the President of the Philippines, expressing sorrow over the floods hitting his country and causing casualties and damages. His Highness the Crown Prince wished for the swift recovery of those affected and wounded in the floods. His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable on Monday to the President of the Philippines expressing sorrow over destruction and loss of life caused by the floods in various regions of the country.
