Kuwait Club crowned Gulf Clubs Men’s Handball Champions

KUWAIT CITY, March 17: Kuwait Club has been crowned champion of the 39th edition of the Gulf Clubs Men’s Handball Championship beating the Bahraini team Al-Najma 27-29 in the final match of the tournament that ended in Manama on Friday

The Kuwaiti team emerged victorious in a thrilling match against the defending champions, thanks to the outstanding performance of their goalkeeper, Ali Safar, and the local and professional players. The match was closely contested, but Kuwait sealed the win with two goals. The Kuwaiti fans, who had traveled to Bahrain, celebrated this achievement, which added to their previous title of Asian Champions.

The Sharjah UAE team secured third place after defeating Qatar (32-28) in the same hall before the final match. Kuwait had an impressive run in the tournament, defeating Al-Ahly of Bahrain (27-20) and Sharjah (29-28) before losing to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Safa (25-26) and qualifying for the semi-finals as group leaders. In the semi-finals, they beat Al-Arabi Al-Qatari (25-21) to reach the final, where they emerged victorious over the defending champions.
