Kuwait Awards Tender for Construction and Maintenance of South Sabah Al-Ahmad Project

KUWAIT CITY, April 11: The Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Ammar Al-Ajmi announced that the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has awarded the tender for the construction, completion and maintenance of main road works, main infrastructure service networks and rainwater tanks in the South Sabah Al-Ahmad project, reports Aljarida daily.

In a press statement, Al-Ajmi explained that the works for implementing roads, infrastructure services, and rainwater tanks for the city were offered on September 25, 2022. The date for submitting bids and opening envelopes closed on January 12. A total of 17 companies responded to purchase their documents, while the number of companies applying in time was only 14 companies. After the study, the selection was made based on the lowest prices submitted by 14 companies.

The process ended with the Kuwait Arab Contractors Company winning the tender with an amount of 112 million 789 thousand and 76 Kuwaiti dinars. The new city project is located 80 km south of Kuwait City on an area of 61.5 square kilometres. PAHW indicated that the duration of the implementation of the works is 1,095 days, which includes the implementation of the first, second and third (surface) layers of asphalt for all the main roads in the project on an area of more than one million flat meters of asphalt, after the existing lake is removed, and the necessary soil treatment is done by the winning company.

Al-Ajmi highlighted that the components of the project also include the implementation of infrastructure services networks for main roads, including the rain network, the sewage network, the irrigation network, the treated water network, the salt water network, and the fresh water network, in addition to the implementation of the necessary traffic works for the project.
