KSCC beat Indian Tigers in thriller to lift KVCC CUP

Shafqat scores 35 in win

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: In a thriller that went down to the wire Kuwait Swedish Cricket Club beat Indian Tigers to lift the KVCC Super League, Winners’ Cup — Silver Division.

Having won the Toss Indian Tigers put KSCC in to bat. Kuwait Swedish were unable to break away in the first 6 overs and lost both their openers trying to up the run rate and managed just 47 runs in the power play.

Kuwait Swedish middle order stepped up their game and managed to create partnerships and put up a decent total of 188 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs with scores of 35 from Shafqat, 31 from Munawar and 29 from Qadeer and Qamar respectively.

For Indian Tigers Bhatkar Muzaffar returned with the best bowling figures of 3 wickets in his 4 overs for 27 runs with Vinci chipping in with 2 wickets and a 1 wicket each for Murad and Salim.

Indian Tigers opened their innings with in-form captain Ronny and Lateef. Getting of to a decent start but lost Ronny in the 3rd over for 17 Runs and followed by Salim and managed to put up 55 runs in the power play.

With the asking run rate of almost 10 runs an over Indian Tigers were going well and with Zahoor at the crease were on course to overall the KSCC total. With some tight bowling and fielding by KSCC Indian Tigers found run making a little difficult. Trying to break the shackles Zahoor was caught in the deep trying to clear the fence by a well-judged catch by Qamar off the bowling of Malik and KSCC sniffed a chance.

Needing just 5 runs off the final over Shafqat bowled a superb over getting Vinci out caught in the slips by Qaisar of the 3rd ball. Indian Tigers were still in with a chance needing just 2 runs for victory off the final ball but were caught out, by Malik, trying to clear the the infield.

Kuwait Swedish won the match by 1 run and lifted their 2nd Cup of the season.
