KNSPC denounces video clip of children’s wrestling competition

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Kuwait National Society for Protection of Children (KNSPC) denounced a video clip, which went viral on various social media platforms, showing children engaged in a wrestling competition organized by a sports company, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a press statement, the society expressed astonishment over the way the innocence of children was transformed through the so-called ‘children wrestling competition’ as the children were engaged in different fighting techniques and practices which promote violence.

The society also stressed that the law guarantees the children’s right to exist and grow in a healthy environment with various preventive and protective measures in place to shield them from all forms of violence, harm and physical abuse. The society then called on official bodies, especially the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and Public Authority for Youth and Sports, to take the necessary steps to eliminate practices deemed harmful to children.
