KNG officer, Syrian partner claim hit by coronavirus, stir panic

KUWAIT CITY, March 17: An officer in the National Guard and his Syrian partner caused panic among employees of the Ministry of Commerce and two security officers in the suburb of Sabah Al-Salem, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, this happened when personnel from the Ministry of Commerce were on routine duty in the area to ensure shops and similar establishment adhere to the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health and the Council of Ministers to fight the corona virus.

The daily said, the Syrian manager of the shop was issued a citation for not complying with the standing instructions and at this point when he was told to sign it, he claimed he was suffering from the virus and telephoned his sponsor, the National Guard officer who is holding the rank of lieutenant colonel.

The daily went on to say after the man arrived at the shop, he too started coughing and said he too is infected with the virus following which an ambulance was called and the two men were referred to the Jaber Hospital and the doctors said the tests on the two men proved negative. The men were then arrested and taken to a police station. The lieutenant colonel was referred to the concerned authority and was allegedly released on bail
