KUWAIT CITY, March 14: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have summoned an unidentified Kuwaiti for inciting children, through the social media means, to commit suicide. The security sources said a case has been filed against him and referred to the competent authority on the background of posting a clip on his social media account showing him throwing his cell phone from a high place in his home.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that, based on a clip circulating on some social media sites, showing someone throwing his mobile phone from a high place in a live broadcast on his personal account, ‘Instagram’, incited children to commit suicide.

After identifying the person he was summoned by the CID men, interrogated and handed over to the competent authority to take legal measures against him. In the meantime, the Ministry of Interior has called upon parents to report any suspected behavior of their children. On the other hand, a large number of the tweeters have criticized the Interior Ministry for summoning the citizen, and said he did not incite children to commit suicide and that throwing his phone from a high place does not mean he incited children to throw themselves from a high place.
