KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: The Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is facing difficulties to hire efficient senior specialist employees because of the low salary scale compared to what their counterparts are paid in the ministries and other government institutions, reports Al-Anba daily quoting senior sources.

The sources added there are employees at the KIA who manage funds up to 5 billion dinars while their salaries do not exceed 1,200 dinars, which is unreasonable and unfair.

The sources indicated, this category of employees should be given various privileges to enable them to continue work and help the KIA achieve the desired goals.

The sources added the KIA managing director has been working on this file since he took office early this year, in cooperation with the Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh, to make and approve amendments to the salaries scale commensurate with the size of their workload and their academic qualifications to bring the salaries on par with their peers in the government sector.

The sources pointed out the KIA employs about 315 people. The sources added about 70 employees have left for better prospects and found jobs in government agencies.
