KHALAF AL HABTOOR does not only confront the enemies of his homeland, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Arab and Islamic nations through his articles published in newspapers but he also puts his money and interests into national fights. This is what we witnessed recently in his stances towards American presidential candidate Donald Trump who launched aggressive statements against Muslims.

Al Habtoor replied to such aggressive attitude against Muslims by boycotting Trump’s projects in and outside the USA. He restrained Trump through a long article published in Al-Seyassah, the Arab Times and several other GCC newspapers. This is the way such a national person deals with the enemies of GCC countries – whether the enemy is the Mullah regime, Hezbollah or those who opposed the Arab alliance against the Iranian project in Yemen.

Despite the fact that he is busy dealing with several issues in his businesses, he managed to set aside some free time to handle and spotlight the cases of his nation. He endures fatigue every time he travels to give lectures in a bid to spread awareness over the United Arab Emirates and other GCC countries. He shouldered such a responsibility voluntarily although he is busy following up his projects and businesses. In addition, he confronts adversaries stubbornly because he defends righteousness.

A man like Al Habtoor possesses a huge fortune. He should have been busy collecting money and leading a luxurious life, yet he has chosen to become a soldier who employs his abilities for the good of his Arab nation and the Islamic creed. Therefore, this person deserves to be honored by GCC leaders.

It is preferable to benefit from his movements to highlight similar GCC personalities who supported their homeland and the entire GCC. They entered into intense confrontations with all those who wanted to harm their homelands. These personalities are from Kuwait, Emirates, Bahrain and other countries which used their pens and stances in political and military battles. They did not hesitate in sacrificing money or even blood in such causes.

Consequently, the step of honoring such personalities is a big, national and influential gesture — thereby, motivating the coming generations to work for the good of their homeland. For that reason, we put the issue in the hands of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, as he is currently the Chairman of GCC.

We put the issue in the hands of all GCC leaders, because Al Habtoor and other GCC personalities who defend their homelands are considered an added intellectual value for the region. Honoring them is more important than complimenting overseas ‘pens’ whose readers might think the gesture is aimed at serving personal interests.
