Aircraft fees witnesses decline

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The head of the Federation of Kuwaiti Tourism and Travel Offices, Mohammad LafiAl-Mutairi, said the sales of travel tickets for the month of July was 22 million dinars for — the cost of 177,000 tickets, reports Al- Qabas daily. Al-Mutairi said on his Twitter account that the total sales of travel tickets from travel offices for seven months — January to the end of July 2021 was 69 million dinars – cost of 788,000 tickets. Al-Mutairi announced the beginning of direct Kuwait Airways flights to Amsterdam and New York on September 8 and 11.

Meanwhile , government data shows fees for aircraft using Kuwaiti airspace decreased by 55 percent during fiscal 2020/2021 which was only 3.4 million dinars, compared to the previous corresponding period which was 7.6 million dinars, reports Al-Anba daily. This decrease coincides with the decrease in global aircraft movement due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The data showed departure fees for Kuwait International Airport witnessed a sharp decrease as well, by more than 81 percent and this period generated only two million dinars (for fiscal year 2020/2021) compared to 11 million dinars in departure fees during fiscal 2019/2020.
