KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The Ministry of Finance will deposit KD 195 million to the account of its interior counterpart at the beginning of September for the disbursement of bonus to 36,000 front-line workers, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the Legal Advice and Legislation Department in the Council of Ministers will soon inform the Financial Controllers Bureau that the disbursement of the front-line bonus is in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 686/2020, which applies to workers involved in the fight against coronavirus from Feb 24 to May 31 last year.

Sources explained the bonus is calculated based on the actual working days within the aforementioned period and it will not be withheld if the concerned employees already received a certain amount during the same period; because the front-line bonus is considered payment for additional work, not a reward. Sources affirmed this step does not contravene Law No. 4 of 2021 on linking the budgets of ministries and government departments for fiscal 2020/2021.
