KUWAIT CITY, May 6: Minister of Electricity and Oil Dr Khalid Al-Fadhel disclosed that roughly KD 16,728,245 is spent annually to operate the street lights in Kuwait – an equivalent of KD 63.65 every 12 hours, reports Al-Rai daily.
In response to a parliamentary question submitted by MP Adnan Al-Samad on the reason for lighting the streets approximately 15 minutes before sunset and keeping the streets lit until sunrise, which he considers to be wastage of public funds-contrary to the idea of cutting down spending plans, Al-Fadhel said the street lights work automatically by photovoltaic cells and delaying it by 30 minutes will affect visibility
