Kazakhstan celebrates 25th ’versary of inception of ‘Olympic movement’

KUWAIT CITY, March 18: Republic of Kazakhstan celebrated its 25th anniversary of the inception of Olympic movement in the country.

The celebratory event was officially inaugurated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the presence of the President of Asian Olympic Council and member of International Olympic Committee Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

On behalf of the people of Kazakhstan, President Nazarbayev said his country is honored to be a part of the International Olympic Movement to which it joined in 1992. He vowed that his country will continue exerting efforts to develop relations with the member states and uphold the ambition of hosting Olympic Games in the future.

During the event, President Nazarbayev honored Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad with the sash of the State Order of Distinction in recognition of his merit in supporting Kazakh sports and youths since the independence of Kazakhstan in 1991.
