KAC to raise flights, resume others; Prices fall

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13, (Agencies): Kuwait Airways declared on Saturday increasing commercial flights to some destinations and re-launching other flights effective December. Fayez Al-Enezi, the KAC Public Relations and Media Director, said in a statement, on Saturday, that the corporation increased the number of commercial flights to London at a rate of one flight per day, along with three flights to Cairo, four flights to Dubai and three others a week to New York. The KAC will resume flights to Bangkok at a rate of four times per week as of November 29, in addition to four flights to Tehran on weekly basis in December, along with two flights a week to Shiraz effective January. Moreover, it will relaunch flights to Alexandria and Sohag at a rate of three flights per week in December, added El-Enezi. Furthermore, the corporation has a plan to operate new routes and increase the commercial flights to a number of destinations starting early 2022. El-Enezi affirmed that the KAC will continue to hike the number of its flights to meet mounting demand to destinations favored by its clients.

Member of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Travel and Tourism Agencies Association (KTTAA) and Chairman of the association’s Media Committee Hussein Al-Sulaiten revealed that Umrah flights constitute a large percentage of flights to and from Kuwait, in addition to flights of domestic workers from the Philippines and India, considering this is not the travel season as the academic year has already started, reports Al-Anba daily. He confirmed that ticket prices have dropped by 50 percent compared to the prices during the Corona pandemic, except the Philippines. He said the prices of tickets to the Philippines (departure only) are still high because the Philippine authorities have yet to lift the quota for arriving passengers. He clarified that prices of tickets for passengers arriving in Kuwait dropped significantly due to the opening of Kuwait International Airport and cancellation of the passengers quota. He added the most preferred destination at present is Saudi Arabia, followed by Turkey and Egypt, indicating they constitute 60 to 70 percent of the current passenger movement to and from Kuwait.
