Bid to avoid confusion among litigants and judges

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: In a move suggesting that the Ministry of Justice has declined the appointment of citizens as typists to print judicial rulings, sources revealed the Supreme Judiciary Council has informed the ministry about the postponement of this step and continuation of the current contracts until the end of the judicial year to avoid confusion among litigants and judges in terms of printing the rulings, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Sources pointed out it is possible to float a tender in this regard once the current recruitment contracts end in order to choose the best citizens for this post, taking into consideration partial appointment to adopt such a mechanism gradually. Sources said the idea of full Kuwaitization was excluded from the agenda because it will lead to work confusion in courts and affect the dates of litigants’ appeals.

It is worth mentioning that the ministry received a response from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) regarding its request to appoint 591 Kuwaiti typists and end the contracts with companies that print rulings. This sparked legal and judicial reactions against full implementation of the decision in the middle of the judicial season.
