KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: Those who fake psychological and mental problems and doctors who entertain such incidents face punishment in the form of prison term and monetary fines, reports Al-Rai daily quoting parliamentary sources.

The sources added this is done to protect the rights of psychiatric patients and at the same time put an end to those who fake such illnesses. In other words those who bluff and take advantage of the situation by claiming they have a file at the Psychiatric Hospital to evade issues related to the judiciary or for monetary benefits by not attending work regularly will be punished. The sources confirmed the expected project shall be forwarded to the National Assembly stressing the need to form a medical and psychological committee.

The sources said if a court orders referral of a ‘defendant’ for psychiatric examination, the person shall be referred to Forensics for examination of mental and psychological state of mind and then a report will be sent to the competent judicial body.
