KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: The Criminal Court sentenced the secretary of one of the members of the Municipal Council to seven- year imprisonment and imposed a fine of KD 1,284, followed by deportation after serving his term. The court refrained from issuing its verdict on a female employee of the Municipal Council, but ordered her to maintain good conduct for a period of two years and pay a financial guarantee of KD 2,000. The two defendants were accused of forgery of the Municipal Council’s attendance list.

According to the case file, investigations were conducted based on a complaint submitted by the head of the Municipal Council. It was discovered that forgery had been committed of an official document which facilitated the secretary to illegally receive an amount of KD 642 from the monthly wage of an employee who works as the budget and accounting controller in the General Secretariat of the Municipal Council.
