KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26:The Food Inspection Department of the Hawalli Governorate, affiliated to the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has confiscated confectionery products on which specifications were written according to Jewish law, reports Al-Rai daily.

Sources pointed out the products were confiscated. Sources also say the products were imported into the country without a local agent and were distributed in more than one branch by the same distributor.

The sources said the confectionery will be sent to the health laboratories to ensure safety of the product and its conformity with the Gulf specifications, explaining if a violation is confirmed, the distributor will be referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.

The sources said coordination has been established between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to find out how the products entered the local market.
