KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: This was another regular shooting day for the FAST members after the President’s Cup 2016. The day started by awarding the winners with medals and trophies wherein Waleed Al Mutawah won all three events from the Special and Professional Division on Practical Shooting and the Professional Division on Precision Shooting.

“Flip Side” scenario was a brilliant creation of FAST President Ronil Garcia with a lot of help from FAST secretary Archie Cajucom.

At the start of the fun shoot, Garcia stressed on the safety and briefed the competitors with the scenario. “Flip Side” scenario is different from the rest of the scenarios that was made before.

At the start, where gun is in Condition 3, both magazines are in the mag pouch and gun holster with both hands on the wall. The targets are laid in 5 different sections, wherein 1 mandatory target is set-up behind a barricade and will be engaged through an open window at a distance of 5 feet.

The shooter has to move from his left side going in through a series of targets that the shooter must engage 2 targets while moving or s/he can decide to engage all 4 targets while moving.

Moving back while shooting is very difficult and the shooter might end up getting a procedural error or disqualified if the gun is pointed in the wrong direction.

Going to the last section, wherein 5 targets are laid out with 3 targets flips sideways every 2 seconds and 2 targets are laid out openly. The shooter has to decide to engage all targets in the mandatory position or elect to engage 2 targets at a distance of 3 feet then run to the mandatory position to engage the flipping 3 targets.

An aggregate scoring method is used to calculate the final score for each competitor with a bullet in Alpha earning 5 points, while in Bravo and Charlie brought 3 points and Delta 1 point.

The time taken to complete the shoot plays a major part in the standing as the total score is divided by the time taken over the course to get the result.

The shooter is penalized and 10 points deducted from the total score for procedural errors and hitting no-shoot targets, they are be disqualified if they violate any gun safety handling rules.

This is the 2nd stage of the competition and as the winter season sets in, the heat is on within the competitors as they came in with high intensity and eagerness to capture the title.

These weekly fun shoots would not be a success without the commitment of Filipino Action Shooting Team (FAST) officers and members. They are being guided by no other than Range Officer Wilbert Zingapan to ensure the safety of all the participants joining the competition.

Meanwhile, FAST officials had announced that all newcomers and members wishing to participate in the weekly shoots should come to the range ahead of time for a “dry run” over the course.

The aim of this dry run is to ensure the newcomers safety as well as that of all those present at the range. Those newcomers who fail to turn up for this dry run will not be allowed to take part in the actual competition.

On the other hand, FAST officials would like to invite everyone on Tuesday evenings to the weekly fun shoot competitions at 18:00 hrs.

For details, on all FAST activities, contact Garcia on 66368018 and Isidro on 99530301 or look us up on Facebook ‘FAST – Kuwait’.
