Iraqi gets 10 years jail for killing father

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: The Criminal Court has sentenced an unidentified Iraqi youth to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor for premeditated killing of his father on the farms in Sulaibiya, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the Public Prosecution the accused on September 30, 2016 deliberately crashed into the car of his father with intent to kill him. The car of the victim flipped over and as a result the father died.

The court also charged the suspect with the attempt to kill his father’s driver, an Asian, by chasing him as he drove his father’s vehicle. For his part, attorney Jasser Al-Jadai, the defendant’s lawyer told the daily that he plans to appeal the verdict, pointing out that his client did not have the intention of killing or injuring his father, who was the one who chased and collided with his car from the rear. He will prove before the Court of Appeals that his client had fled and his vehicle was in front of his father’s vehicle and not behind it.
