BAGHDAD, Feb 13 (KUNA) — Iraq re-imposed a partial late night lockdown on Saturday as authorities scramble to face an alarming rise in coronavirus infections.

The two week-long measures, which come into effect on Thursday, will also see shops, public parks, schools, universities, mosques and other prayer halls forced shut, state news agency, INA, reported.

Authorities have warned that those found in violation of these measures will be subject to heavy fines, worth around USD 3,500.

The number of cases climbed above 2,000 for the third day in a row, doubling those reported on Tuesday.
