India’s Arjun clinches silver at Asian Youth Champ’ships; Saudi athlete grabs bronze

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15 : Second day of the 2022 Kuwait U18 Asian Youth Athletic Championships, kicked-off with the boys 110m hurdles, won by Chinese Taipei’s Yuan-Kai Hsieh while silver went Muhammad Fiross of Malaysia, and Brian Swara from India came third. In the boys 400m’s Iran’s Seyed Mohammad Aghaei clinched gold as Sri Lanka snatched silver and bronze with their athletes Jayathilake Praveen and Rajapaksha Pathiranage.

In the boys javelin throw category, Chinese Taipei athlete Choa-hong Huang claimed gold, India’s Arjun finished second while Himanshu Mishra settled for bronze. In decathlon, Uzbekistan’s Nodir Norbaev scored the highest points (3680 pts) out of four events (LJ, SP, HJ, 400m) followed by Sina Afshinfar of Iran and Saudi athlete Ahmed Al-Khazali.

The U18 girls competition began with high jump event, with Uzbekistan’s Sayfulaeva Barnokhon placing first with a 1.84m score, silver going to Alina Chistyakova from Kazakhistan and Bui Thi Kim Anh from Vietnam came in third. In the 400m event Hoang Thuc of Vietnam won the race with a time 55.03 seconds, followed by two Indian Athletes Isha Jadhav and Anushka Kumbah. Indonesia captured gold in the 100m event. Hong Kong’s Hoi Man Pak won 100m hurdles title in14.02 seconds. India’s Sabita Toppo placed second, and Irene-li Lai of Chinese Taippe finished third. (KUNA)
