The suspect pointing his gun at a teller

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 17: An Indian woman foiled an attempt to rob a money exchange bureau in Kuwait thanks to her courage and quick thinking, says Gulfnews.com. The raid occurred in a bureau in Mahboola, south of the capital Kuwait City, around noon when there were no clients and only three employees, including the Indian woman, inside, Kuwaiti daily Al Rai reported on Sunday.

Covering his face with his ghitra, the traditional Gulf headdress, the suspect headed towards one of the three employees, pulled out a gun from his thobe pocket and threatened a teller that he would shoot him if he did not hand him all the money in the bureau.

The woman, who was not fazed by the dramatic events unfolding in front of her, kept her composure and pressed the button to sound the alarm. The raider, not expecting the quick reaction from the woman teller, left the bureau quickly without hurting any of the three tellers, the daily added.

A security source said that the exchange bureau agent, an Egyptian national, reported the raid attempt to the police and handed them a video recording by the surveillance camera. A case was registered to identify and arrest the robber, the source added. Kuwait has a very low crime rate and armed attacks on money exchangers are almost non-existent.
