KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Three expatriates — an Indian, a Nepalese and a Sri Lankan — were arrested for drug peddling, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, when the Drug Control General Department received information about the three expatriates involved in selling drugs, a team was formed for investigations and arresting the suspects. The Indian was seized in a trap while selling drugs to an undercover agent. He was found in possession of 15 grams of crystal meth and 20 grams of hashish. The 27-year old Nepalese was arrested in possession of 100 grams of heroin and 10 grams of crystal meth and the Sri Lankan was arrested in possession of 500 grams of marijuana. The three traffi ckers have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Liquor bottles seized: Ahmadi securitymen arrested an Asian with 23 bottles of locally brewed liquor in his possession. The securitymen suspected the Asian when they saw him carrying a bag in Mangaf so they stopped him to check his identity. He looked nervous and afraid. When the offi cers inspected the contents of the bag, they found the liquor bottles ready for sale. They then referred the suspect and the liquor to concerned authorities.

Passports’ news refuted: The Public Relations and Security Media General Department in the Ministry of Interior has refuted rumors spread through different social media platforms that the Citizenship and Passports Affairs General Department received a number of the passports which are not on par with the standards. In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media General Department stressed that the Citizenship and Passports Affairs General Department uses a strict and accurate system to ascertain the quality of passports before they are delivered to Kuwait. The statement added that the Citizenship and Passports Affairs General Department thanked the citizens for their cooperation, while promising to solve issues like the crowd and delay in receiving new passports within a few days.

Asian acquitted in theft case: An Asian man has been acquitted of stealing construction materials from Ahmadi according to Article 172 of the Penal Code, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The Public Prosecution charged the Asian with stealing iron, pipelines and wood belonging to a construction company. Lawyer for the accused, Attorney Khaled Al- Sowaifan, argued in court that his client did not intend to steal. He explained the accused, who works as a truck driver, received a call from unknown individual asking him to transport construction materials from Ahmadi to Mahboula in exchange for an undisclosed amount. He also pointed out that the case fi le lacks incriminating evidence, so he demanded for the acquittal of his client.

4 arrested for thefts: Two Kuwaitis, a GCC national and a Bedoun man were arrested for robbing groceries and branches of cooperative societies, reports Al-Shahed daily. Jahra securitymen, after receiving several complaints of thefts in grocery shops and cooperative societies, held intensive investigations and managed to arrest one of the thieves. After admitting to the crime, he led the police to his accomplices. The arrested thieves are two Kuwaiti citizens, GCC national and a Bedoun man. They admitted to committing eight theft crimes. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Trucker held for forged visa: Officials at Al- Nuwaiseeb border checkpoint arrested an Egyptian trucker for attempting to enter the country using a forged visa, reports Al-Anba daily. After he admitted that he obtained the visa from an individual in his country, he was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.
