GTD issues 342 citations, detains 8 drifters in raid

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 24: A traffic campaign which was organized upon instructions of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major-General Jamal Sayegh following reports of recklessness in the south of the country, the General Traffic Department has issued 342 citations and arrested eight young men, most of them believed to be Kuwaitis and detained them at GTD prison, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, the campaign was carried out by the Security Sector of the Ministry of Interior supervision of Colonel Yousef Al-Khadda and Captain Salem Al-Radan.

The source stressed that the campaign in the south of the country comes within the framework of a series of future campaigns, following numerous complaints received by the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior about recklessness and disrespect for traffic laws. The source pointed out Major General Sayegh has issued instructions to impound the vehicles for two months.
