GTD collects KD 7 mln from violating motorists since beginning of the year

KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The General Traffic Department (GTD) of the Interior Ministry, since the beginning of this year, is said to have collected KD 7 million from motorists who have violated traffic laws, reports Al-Shahed daily. It has been reported the traffic police have issued five million citations this year until date.

Meanwhile, a police officer holding the rank of a colonel working for the office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Information is reportedly leaking inside information to one of the former MPs to incite trouble among the citizens, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to some reliable sources, the colonel was ‘planted’ in higher position through nepotism and parliamentary pressure for selfish benefits.

The daily added, the colonel played a vital role to promote chaos in the recent past and was also seen attending seminars held by the opposition in Sabah Al-Nasser and Al-Andalus. He was reportedly providing information to an MP who is known for fomenting trouble and also providing him with names of people who are against him.

Crime rate down in ’15: The year 2015 witnessed a significant decrease in crime and theft rates, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to official statistics released by the General Department for Research and Statistics, the crime rate has been gradually decreasing and there was a considerable decline in cases recorded against unknown persons in the year 2015. Sources revealed that the execution of the surveillance cameras project will reduce the crime rate much further and will represent a turning point in the field of security such that crimes can be eliminated completely and criminals can be arrested easily.

MoI staff banned: The Cabinet has issued a decision to ban employees of the army, the police and the National Guard of all ranks from publishing news, photographs of camps or their personal photographs on social networking websites, reports Al-Anba daily. The decision stressed that those who commit violations in this regard will be subjected to legal accountability followed by termination of service.
