Govt finding ways to legalize thousands of illegal Syrians

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: The Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah is closely following up the issue of Syrians (violators of residence law), the issue which he looks at from the humanitarian point of view but within the permissible rules and regulations and decisions which have been issued in this regard, reports Al-Rai daily quoting senior security sources. According to the same sources there are about 190,000 Syrians in Kuwait and out of them about 24,000 are violators of residence law.

The sources pointed out upon direct instructions from the Interior Minister, the ministry is working to resolve this dilemma to legalize the status of deserving persons from a humanitarian point of view to reduce the number of violators.
