Goans in Kuwait conduct toastmasters meet

First toastmasters club in Konkani

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: For the first of its kind and with the intention to develop speaking skills in their native language. A group of passionate Goans got together to conduct a demo toastmasters meeting in Konkani on April 24, 2018, at Better Books Salmiya. Senior toastmasters Anil, Cajetan, Raymond, Priscilla, Marceline and Elvis worked bringing the toastmasters guidelines and protocols to structure the event in Konkani.

The Konkani Toastmasters will be formed under Area36 and Division I. Area Director TM Christy and District20 Manager DTM Alka Kumra attended the Konkani event as was full of praise and support for this event. TM Christy stressed on the need to develop speaking skills in regional language and focused on it’s importance towards the younger generation as well. Prominent Goans, Augusto, Gasper, Dominic, Aldrin attended the event and participated in the exciting event in taking up roles in table topics, and other meeting roles.

TM Marceline was sharp with her Ah Counter role and also guided the audience with Stage ethics. TM Priscilla bagged the best table topics speaker award with her humorous take on the title “How much money you need to spend a holiday in Goa?”.

DTM Anil took an excellent attempt in conducting the table topics, while Aldrin and Augusto took up evaluation and grammarian roles with great enthusiasm. Dominic enthralled the audience with great Konkani speaking skills. TM Cajetan being the sergeant at arms spoke well in Konkani explaining the house rules and also contributed with excellent table topics and photography. The meeting started and ended on time with the watchful eye of our timer TM Elvis. The club plans to charter soon. If anyone is interested to join to develop your Konkani skills.
