KUWAIT CITY, May 31: The Government Manpower Restructuring Program (GMRP) has stopped the disbursement of labor support for 1,652 Kuwaiti male and female employees in May out of the 57,633 after ending their work permits in the private sector, who were paid KD 38.522 million, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Secretary-General of the program Fawzi Al-Majdali told the daily the decision of the Council of Ministers No. 613 of 2015 obliged all national manpower to register with the General Authority for Manpower and get a valid work permit to benefit from the support allocated by the State. Al-Majdali pointed out the work permit creates a database whereby private sector employees are excluded and who are actually beneficiaries of the support provided by the state as per the decision issued by the Council of Ministers regarding the disbursement of the social allowance and the allowance for children to professionals and craftsmen and employees of non-governmental organizations.

Al-Majdali has called on everyone working in the private sector and who benefit from the employment support to “renew his/her work permit a month before it ends, so as not to put himself/ herself in an unenviable position. He also called on the licensees to renew their commercial licenses well in advance in order to continue getting the support for the employees from the state. Al-Majdali revealed the GMRP and the manpower authority are fully linked so the transaction will be automatically terminated in case of any discrepancy
