Free Wi-Fi from Mubarakiya stretching to entire country

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: The Wireless Mobile Data Company (WiMD) is getting ready to launch its free Wi-fi service in Kuwait, starting with Souk Al-Mubarakiya, after which it will launch the service in other areas of the country.
The project is considered to be the first of its kind provided by the Public Authority for Communications in coordination with the private sector, reports Aljarida daily.
In an interview with the daily, the board member of B.Global Group Ahmad Al- Omani and its Chairman Meshal Al-Ibrahim spoke about the project and its importance.
Al-Omani said “Samaa” is a high-speed and high-quality free internet service which will cover the entire country, revealing that it will start with the traditional Souk Mubarakiya and then will be extended to other parts of the country. Al-Omani explained that this plan will represent excellent initiative from Kuwait in terms of partnership between the public and private sectors under the directives of the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah and the support of Director of Public Authority for Communications Salem Al-Utheina, for it to be the first smart city in the region with the cooperation of the communication authority, Kuwait Municipality and the Capital Governorate. He indicated that the “Samaa” service is ready and is waiting for the approval of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait so that it can be presented to the public, affirming that there will be various projects of such kind in other places of the State of Kuwait.
Earlier this year, chairperson of Wi MD Meshal Al-Ibrahim indicated that the entire country will be provided with free Wi-fi service, as a step towards turning Kuwait gradually into a smart country. It is worth mentioning that Wireless Mobile Data Company (WiMD) is a young and aspiring privately owned company (licensed sub-ISP) that offers high-speed wireless internet and data solutions to residential and corporate customers in Kuwait.
Wi MD wants to make broadband available everywhere even on road. Meanwhile, Kuwait National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development has set organizational regulations for business incubation activities in the private sector, reports Al- Anba daily. These regulations were issued after they underwent some amendments.
The fund has started registration process on its website for those who wish to receive business incubation license. Highlighting points in the regulations include providing incubation for entrepreneurs for an area of up to 200 meters and all the services that will assist the entrepreneurs.
The fund warned that it has the right to withdraw the license of a business incubator if the necessary requirements are not fulfilled, whether in terms of not submitting annual incubation report or other aspects of the regulations, adding that the owner of a business incubator is supposed to pay KD 250 for the license.
