Forged visas, equipment found with African man in police raid

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9: Acting on a tip-off and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, police recently raided the apartment of an unidentified African man and seized from him ‘forged’ visas, reports Al-Shahed daily. Police have also seized from the man equipment used in forging the visas, such as a high resolution printer and four forged visas.

Smuggling foiled: Customs officers at Kuwait airport foiled an attempt by an Egyptian woman to smuggle 270 pills of illicit drug Tramadol into the country, says Al- Seyassah. A security source said the substance was kept in a piece of cloth and carefully hidden inside her luggage. She was referred to concerned authorities.

3 brothers held: The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media in a statement said police have arrested three brothers — Abdulmohsen and Yousef Ali (both believed to be 31 years old) and Mohammed, 32, assaulting police on duty and referred them to the concerned authorities, according to press release issued by the Ministry of Interior. This happened when Abdulmohsen was ordered to pull over for making stunts with his vehicle on the Third Ring Road. The suspect refused and as he tried in vain to escape he collided with another vehicle in Keifan and was forced to stop. At this point the two other brothers arrived at the scene and began to assault the securitymen in a vain attempt to allow their brother to escape. According to police, Yusuf is wanted by law for failing to pay KD 3,000 debts and had been sentenced in absentia to a prison term. The Department stressed there is no laxity in the application of the law and persons, particularly those who try to undermine the prestige of securitymen and prevent them from doing their duty will be punished severely.

Hearing on Nov 2: The Constitutional Court scheduled a session for Nov 2, 2016 to look into a petition referred by the Administrative Court in relation to the case filed by Public Attorney Abdulrahman Al-Ansari against the Fatwa and Legislation Department on the cancellation of decision number 30/2015 to form the technical inspection committee due to suspicion of violating the Constitution with regard to decree number 92/2014. Al-Ansari explained the violation is related to members of the Fatwa and Legislation Department that outlines their jobs as stated in decree number 14/1977 on the grades and stipends for judges, members of the Public Prosecution and the department. He affirmed the concerned ministry has no right to put barriers for promotion, in addition to mixing what is considered the basis for performance evaluation with those that can be responded to only through legal text and mixing two types of promotions between those under the ‘weaker grades’ in two different authorities as stated in Article Three of decree number 14/1977.

Drugs, liquor seized: Police officers from Ahmadi Security Command arrested a citizen wanted by law for evading a jail sentence and he had in his possession an undisclosed quantity of narcotics, reports Al- Seyassah daily. According to security sources, police officers patrolling in Mangaf signaled for the citizen to pull over for routine inspection and they discovered he is wanted by law as he failed to serve a jail term of five years. Also, the officers found narcotics when they searched the citizen’s vehicle. The citizen was then referred to the concerned security department.
