KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: Anti-narcotics personnel arrested a Bedoun for peddling in alcohol and confiscated 135 bottles of imported liquor and KD 3,000 cash in his possession. Security sources said the department received report about the suspect and sealed a deal with a secret agent to purchase 24 bottles of liquor for KD 1,900. He was arrested upon delivery of the contraband in Bayan area. Security officers confiscated KD 3,000 cash believed to be proceeds from liquor trade along with 135 bottles of alcohol. He was referred to Drug Prosecution.

KD 45K debts not paid: Farwaniya securitymen arrested an unidentified young man who was wanted by law for owning debts totaling KD 45,000 to a number of companies. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.

Expat run over, dies: An Egyptian expatriate died when he was run over by a vehicle on Sixth Ring Road, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, the corpse was referred to the Forensics Department and a case has been registered. Meanwhile, a young man sustained injuries when his vehicle collided with another near a commercial mall in Jahra area. In a separate incident, an unidentified individual sustained injuries when his vehicle toppled near the Cooperative Society in Al-Zour area. Both victims were referred to Jahra Hospital for treatment.

Graffiti on ‘extremism’: A citizen made a distress call to the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry and reported that an unknown person had written on the concrete barrier of a bridge along Subiya Road graffiti full of extremist expressions, reports Al-Anba daily. Acting on information, officers from the State Security Department went to the scene and took photos of the inscription for investigation.

‘34,999 hurt in accidents’: In the last 11 years, 34,999 individuals sustained injuries due to traffic accidents, and 7,000 among these individuals were in serious condition, reports Al- Qabas daily. According to official statistics, 773,806 accidents occurred during the period from 2004 to 2015. Out of them, 762,837 were collisions, 5,476 overturning of vehicles and 3,973 runover accidents. The number of accidents in the last five years increased drastically compared to the previous years. In 2014, a total of 99,047 accidents occurred while a total of 89,527 accidents occurred in 2013.
