Fire-fighters battling the raging blaze at the fodder yard near Salmi

KUWAIT CITY, June 21: The huge fire that broke out at an open area used for storying fodder at km. 1 of Al-Salmi highway last night was controlled, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) announced Wednesday. Fire engines from Al-Jahra, Al-Ardiya and Al-Salmi rushed to the site and battled the fire that spread across 7,000 sq. km. No casualties or injuries were reported, said KFSD in a statement, adding that damage was only material. (KUNA)

‘Drifter’ nabbed: The owner of a pickup was arrested for reckless driving after he hit a patrol car in Dhaher area, says Al-Seyassah. A security source said the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received report that a group of youths were performing stunts and endangering lives in the aforementioned area. Based on information, Ahmadi Security Chief Brigadier Abdullah Safa sent a team of officers to the location. They caught the pick-up driver in the act but he tried to flee the scene after seeing the officers. The officers requested backup and managed to arrest him. His vehicle was seized before referring him to the area police station.
