KUWAIT CITY, April 28: Into the 8th week of the on-going 2016 FTBK-Bahrain Exchange Company Tenpin Bowling Team Tournament being held at the 16-lane Cozmo Entertainment Bowling Center in Salmiya, the quest for one of the championship round berths continued to heat up going to the last three weeks of elimination round. Dishing out the most notable performance of the week were the fiery hot Cozmo Salmiya Keglers who barged into the Top 8 for the first time after their sterling victory over defending champions World Class. Also posting convincing victories in the 8th week of this tenpin bowing event sponsored by Bahrain Exchange Company were the DMDA Bowleros, Siete Pares 1, K2E2, Klasmeyts-NLB Corporation and Napesco.
With their ace pin busters back in harness, the entertainment magnates of Cozmo Salmiya who were out of contention for most part of the elimination round slowly but surely clawed their way back into the thick of the fight as they made their way into the elite 8 courtesy of their masterful win over the struggling World Class keglers. Led by their highly touted threesome of Ronnel Valencia, Aga Cuadrazal and Vernie Villaruel together with support from Abdul Khader Faroq and Faisal Fahad Salem, Cozmo Salmiya virtually enjoyed a walk in the park in the first three games of the match where they clobbered World Class via 776-680, 803-699 and 828-766. In the fourth and final game, Cozmo came out even more a more domination team as Ronnel Valencia literally burned down the lanes with his explosive performance wherein he rolled 10 consecutive strikers en-route to an enviable 288 score. In posting their 966-641 game four victory, Cozmo Salmiya also posted the new high game scratch record of 854 pin falls and grabbed the weekly team high series award through their final winning tally of 3398-2756.
Equally impressive in their winning stint against Rock N Bowl are the architectural designers of DMDA Bowleros. One of the top three teams who are already assured of a place in finals, the third ranked DMDA Bowleros bannered by the quartet of Elvie Sotio, Alfred Avila. Al Belarmino and Sonny Mariano, breezed past Rock N Bowl in four straight games 804-778, 833-744, 812-719, and 830-752 to win the match via a lopsided final total pin falls score of 3304-2993. Manning the lanes for Rock N Bowl in this match were Liza Catapia, Romy Daus, Norie Sairat, Romy Fermil, Rod Llait and Tariq Sairat. The Siete Pares 1 squad meanwhile retained the top position in the standings after emerging victorious in their match opposite D’ Islanders 3281-3088. In eking out the decisive victory, Siete Pares 1 headed by Manny Nazaire, Rico Galang, Egay Cabildo, Faie Reyel, Rita Vidana and Jazel Pangilinan banked on their intense effort in game one where their subdued their rivals via a 901-765 rout that was followed by 750-707 and 865-815 wins in games two and four. D’ Islanders with Bobby Carambas, Danny Doctor, Rolly David, Edgar Pascua and Marilyne Mariano avoided a sweeping loss by grabbing an 801-740 decision in game three.
The second running Klasmeyts-NLB Corporation likewise booked an 8th week victory when they outclassed the undermanned Philippine Embassy strikers 3243-2778. Spearheaded by Rick Marimla, Bong Bermillo, Rudy Zablan, Emma Gatus and Nelson De Leon, Klasmeyts-NLB defeated Philippine Embassy in all four games of the match via 809-691, 804-701, 767-699 and 838-687 scores. Suiting up for the diplomats in this match were Mac Khalil, Mua Mamosion and Jheng Liwayway. In the other two matches of the week, the K2E2 Thunders led by Edwin Latoja, Lee Mills, Danny San Juan, Joan Latoja and Kim Alinea, blanked Siete Pares 2 four games to none to win the match via a 3254-2979 tally and Napesco with Jowie Concepcion, JR Sabado, Vicky Navarro, Ronald Ferolino, Joseph Balo, Benny Chan, EDgar Benitez and Fredy Marzo nipped Power Station 2972-2942.
