KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9: The Family Circuit of the Court of Appeals revoked the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which granted a Kuwaiti woman in her 50s the custody of her children including her disabled son, and instead granted the custody to the father. Representing the children’s father, Lawyer Ina’am Haidar explained that her client and his ex-wife have three children including two minor girls and a 31-yearold son who is disabled and requires female care. However, his mother did not provide adequate care for the son, and instead it was his father who cared about him and did everything to provide all means of comfort for his son. Lawyer Haidar stressed that the verdict of the Court of First Instance is in violation of the law, insisting that the mother is solely interested in receiving the disability allowance offered to her son by the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs. She revealed that the mother spends long hours away from home, which proves her inefficiency in caring for her children.

Case dismissed: The Misdemeanor Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Kuwaiti citizen to order his ex-wife to pay debt worth KD 2,000 that she owed him since the time they were married. The defense counsel Lawyer Zainab Al-Ramzi called for the dismissal of the lawsuit, stressing that there is no debt in the first place and that the promissory note was issued against her client’s will after she was seriously beaten by her exhusband and sustained serious injuries. She presented medical reports as well as witnesses to confirm this. After listening to the arguments of Lawyer Al-Ramzi, the court dismissed the case and ordered the husband to pay the legal expenses incurred.

Panel probes case: The Attorney- General has referred a complaint filed by the advisor in the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Mohammad to the permanent investigation committee of the Ministers Court, reports Al-Anba daily. The former Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah has filed a petition with the Attorney-General to investigate the allegations mentioned in a recent State Audit Bureau report about financial irregularities at the Interior Ministry when he was interior minister. “Sheikh Mohammad does not object to being referred to the Ministers Court to reveal the truth in front of the Kuwaiti people to protect the police force from political struggles and to protect the reputation of policemen,” his attorney Emad Al-Saif said
