KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13: The Ministry of Interior is considering allowing family and tourist visit visas in March after a hiatus of more than a year and a half, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting security sources. They explained that the General Department for Residency Affairs of the Ministry of Interior is awaiting a report from the Ministry of Health on the stability of the health situation in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country in order to make the appropriate decision, especially with the recent decrease in the number of new cases and the number of admissions to intensive care units and wards, and surpassing the peak of the omicron wave in the country.

Despite the Cabinet’s decision to resume the issuance of all types of visas for expatriates, family and tourist visits were suspended, as the Cabinet’s decision was applied only to work visas and commercial visit visas. The sources affirmed that the resumption of family and tourist visits for children and spouses will contribute to revitalizing the economic movement at various levels, in addition to the fact that it comes from a humanitarian standpoint, taking into account the circumstances of the reunification of some families residing in the country.

They revealed that dozens of expatriates visit the residency affairs departments in the six governorates on a daily basis to inquire about the date of resumption of family and tourist visits in order to bring their families, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is taking the necessary measures to ensure ample supply of basic commodities, in cooperation with various authorities, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources confirmed there are many plans for dealing with crises, stressing that the strategic stock of the country is high – more than six months supply of various basic commodities.

The Ministry of Education has proposed a mechanism for disbursing the current fiscal year’s budget for the supply, transportation, installation and maintenance of machines, equipment; as well as the skateboard, balancing and multi-purpose devices, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources explained this move is aimed at ensuring the maintenance of the abovementioned items due to the need for general technical guidance for kindergartens according to the specified technical conditions.
