Fake travel agents dupe citizens

KUWAIT CITY, April 10: An Egyptian expatriate and a Jordanian were arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department for duping expatriates and citizens. The duo who claimed to be representatives of a travel and tour agency cheated their victims after convincing them of winning prizes to stay in luxury hotels.

A security source said officers at the Criminal Investigation Department received a complaint about an Egyptian and a Jordanian who swindled citizens and expatriates after making them believe they won prizes to stay in luxury hotels on discount. One citizen said the two suspects convinced him to sign a contract of KD 160 at the premises of the travel and tour agency for free plane ticket and lodging in a hotel. The citizen filed a complaint with the Hawalli Criminal Investigation Department when the suspects failed to implement items of the contract.

They were arrested while trying to swindle their next victim. Apparently, the owner of the agency does not know about the activities of the two suspects. They have since been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Hunt for motorist: Criminal Investigations Department is on the look out for the driver of a white “Porsche” car, as she is responsible for the recent traffic accident which resulted in the death of a Bedoun man and injuries to his three children, one of who had later succumbed to the injuries and died in the hospital. Security sources explained that the traffic accident took place last week on Fifth Ring Road between Omariya and Khaitan areas. The Bedoun man was taking his children to school when the accident occurred. He had died on the spot and his children sustained serious injuries. However, one of the injured children later died in the hospital One of the children informed securitymen that a woman driving a white Porsche car was troubling his father and had deliberately stopped in front of their car, which caused his father to crash into a parked vehicle. The sources affirmed that investigations have been launched to identify and find the suspect.
