Fake social media accounts targeted; Officer suspended

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ministry of Interior has prepared a list of fake social media accounts which are largely responsible for spreading lies and endangering national unity, reports Al-Qabas daily, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources. The sources told the daily the CID has succeeded in closing many accounts and taken into custody the administrator in the best interest of the security and stability of the country.

Officer suspended: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister retired Lieutenant-General Sheikh Khalid Al- Jarrah Al-Sabah has ordered the suspension of an officer working at the Correctional Institutions Department (Central Prison), pending completion of investigation, reports Al-Rai daily. A knowledgeable security source said the officer in the rank of captain, and identified only as Mohammed, has been suspended for violating the Interior Ministry laws and regulations and committing serious violations inside the facility. However, a reliable source said, what the officer has done has nothing to do with what a former lawmaker claimed about abuses inside the prison.
