Eye on e-criminals – Kuwaiti surrenders son to police – Court acquits Kuwaiti juvenile

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Anyone who exploits the social networking websites to commit crimes will be hunted down sooner than later, even if it takes months, says an official of investigation department of the E-Crimes Department, reports Al-Qabas daily. The official said the department is like any other investigation department, but the only difference is this department personnel do not roam on the streets but they surf on the Internet to monitor the security situation. The official added, between 1 and 15 persons are arrested every day and 90 percent of the unknown cases are referred to the police stations. The official added, after Jan 7, 2016, the cases will be filed with the Public Prosecution and not with the police stations.

Man surrenders son to police: A Kuwaiti has handed over to Adan police his son for consuming drugs and causing destruction in the house, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, as soon as the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received a call from the father police rushed to the spot and arrested the son. Meanwhile, personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department are looking for three unidentified persons for pointing a gun at police and threatening to shoot them, reports Al-Anba daily. A case has been filed at a police station.

Court acquits Kuwaiti juvenile: The Misdemeanor Court presided over by Judge Meshal Al-Mutawa cancelled the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Kuwaiti juvenile to three-month imprisonment for insulting two securitymen and taking their pictures using his mobile phone without their permission. The court instead acquitted him of all charges. According to the case file, the two securitymen were on duty at a security checkpoint when the Kuwaiti juvenile arrived at the checkpoint and refused to stop for checking. He was chased by the securitymen until he reached his house where he started taking their pictures using his mobile phone and then insulted them. The defense counsel lawyer Ali Al-Ali urged the court to acquit his client, indicating the flaws in the procedures followed for arresting his client.
