‘Extend housing loans to Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis’

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Article Seven of the Constitution stipulates that justice, freedom and equality are the pillars of society; hence, the need to amend the executive regulations of the law on housing care for women in order to grant KD 70,000 housing loan to Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis, says MP Mansour Al-Zufairi. In a press statement, Al-Zufairi pointed out Article 29 of the Constitution states that all people are equal in human dignity, public rights and duties without discrimination based on gender, ethnic origin or religion.

He said every Kuwaiti woman married to a non- Kuwaiti has the right to get housing loan like other categories. He added Article Eight of the Constitution stipulates that the State shall safeguard the pillars of society and ensure security, peace and equal opportunities and rights, including housing care, for all citizens – both men and women. He also stressed the need for approval of the proposed rent, social and children allowances for Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis, as well as equal rights between men and women in terms of passing on their citizenship to their children.

In another development, Chairman of the Budgets and Final Accounts Committee Adnan AbdulSamad said they discussed the budget of the Public and Private Sectors Partnership Authority on Monday. He also confi rmed previous discussions on the railway and metro projects but nothing has been finalized until now. He disclosed the committee sent a letter, through National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim, to the authority in a bid to know the procedures which have been taken so far regarding the railway and metro projects. He said the committee is keen on implementing these two projects as they are related to public facilities, particularly transportation.

On another issue, MP Faisal Al-Duwaisan underscored the need to ease the political tension and negative atmosphere at the National Assembly. He called for prioritizing national welfare rather than focusing on political and electoral gains. He said the people’s representatives must play their legislative and supervisory roles instead of engaging in sectarian disputes, considering the recent political and security developments. He added that arguing over the affairs of other countries is not benefi cial to Kuwait, as such an act only leads to division.
